Arriving January – Available for Reservation
A striking vintage enamel pot in that bold countryside blue, a proper old Hungarian kitchen piece with a lifetime of stories behind it. With its double handles, locking lid and tall shape, this pot was originally used for storing rendered fat after the annual winter pig butchering, a tradition deeply woven into rural village life.
In Hungary, this gathering took place each January. Families, friends and neighbours would come together before dawn, working side by side to prepare the meat that would feed them through the year, bacon, sausages, salamis, and all the essentials for a farmhouse kitchen. Nothing was wasted. The rendered fat (zsír) was poured into enamel pots like this one to cool, set, and be used for cooking throughout the seasons. These pots sat proudly on pantry shelves, always within reach.
Today, it carries all that history in its colour and wear. A gorgeous rustic statement piece for the kitchen, boot room or as a quirky planter or storage item. A little slice of Hungarian heritage.
