A beautifully crafted vintage platter featuring a hand-woven rattan surround and an oval ceramic base finished with a naturally aged crackle glaze. This mixed-material technique became popular from the mid-20th century, particularly in Southern Europe and parts of Southeast Asia, where artisans combined ceramic with rattan to create durable yet decorative serving pieces.
The ceramic base has a warm, time-worn patina, securely stitched into the tightly woven rattan with traditional handwork. Light surface crazing and a small area of wear to the weave are present, both consistent with age and adding to its authentic vintage charm.
Perfect as a centrepiece bowl, for styling fruit, bread, linens, or simply as a textural decorative object.
