A sweet little terracotta chick drinker from the Hungarian countryside, the kind used in small village farms to keep water (or grain) clean while the tiniest chicks darted around it. The dome shape with its generous cut-outs kept little beaks safe while stopping them from stepping into the water or spilling the feed. Simple, clever, and made entirely by hand.
 
This one has that beautiful warm clay tone, faint traces of old lime lines on the top, and all the lovely wear you’d expect from decades in a farmhouse yard. Pieces this small don’t turn up very often, most were broken or used until they simply crumbled away, so finding one in this condition is a real treat.
