Measurements: approx. 12 cm tall x 36 cm wide
A truly beautiful old Hungarian vessel, finished in deep green glaze with decades of honest wear that gives it that unmistakable farmhouse character. What makes this piece especially special is the original drótozás, the traditional hand-wired repair once done by travelling craftsmen known as drótos tótok.
These skilled repairers would move from village to village, mending cracked pots with wire so families could keep using them for many more years. It was a respected trade, and the wiring itself is now part of the story, a woven, careful net that holds the pot together and protects its history.
The glaze has softened into earthy greens and charcoal tones, with worn edges and surface texture that only time can create. A stunning decorative bowl for a console, kitchen island, or rustic shelf styling, full of soul and old countryside charm.
A rare survivor of a folk craft that’s almost disappeared, and a beautiful example of why repaired pieces are often the most loved.
