A beautifully hand-carved black-smoked clay vase from Korond (Corund), the historic Transylvanian village renowned for its traditional pottery. This piece features deeply carved foliate motifs and the classic satin-matte black finish created through smoke-firing, a centuries-old technique unique to the region.
On the base, the vase carries its original artisan and workshop markings, confirming its authentic Korond origin. These impressed numbers and the HARG / KOROND stamp are characteristic of small-batch production and add to the piece’s collectability and provenance.
As with all antique folk ceramics, the surface carries subtle irregularities and textural variations from use and firing, the qualities we love in genuine, traditionally made pottery.
