This elegant antique chair is crafted in the Louis XVI style, dating roughly from the late 19th to early 20th century (c. 1880–1920). It features all the hallmarks of the period:
Fluted tapering legs
Carved rosettes to each corner block
Ribbon-tied cresting at the top of the back
Delicate hand-carved details throughout
Original woven cane seat and back
The seat cane is fully intact, which is rare for a chair of this age, while the back shows a small tear and some areas of broken cane, lovely as it is, or an easy repair for restoration enthusiasts.
The frame carries its original aged gilt finish, showing a wonderfully timeworn patina. There are surface losses, cracks, and wear to the wood and gilding, fully consistent with its age and adding to its authentic antique charm. Structurally, it is sound but would benefit from a gentle tighten or restoration if intended for daily use.
A truly decorative piece with real character, perfect for a hallway, bedroom corner, or as part of an antique furniture collection.
